Where I am from poem

I am from a handmade dresser

made by my grandpa in southern style

From Charmain Ultra always under the bathroom sink

just in case

From cookies just coming out of the oven

I am from a grey porch

where ants ate our food

and where the annual

back to school pictures were always held

I am from the flowerbed in the backyard

and having to pull the weeds out

from the grass i just cut and playing in it

I'm from Christmas dinners at grandparents houses

from riding on horses with my grandpa

from dog lovers and snake haters

from fishing trips and football games

I'm from pick up football games and bald men

from families where everyone works

from small town roots

I'm from Catholic chants and Baptist hymns

From church every Sunday

From Easter diner with my grandparents

I'm from my dad's bad ankle that he

got from touch football

From my grandpa's stories about

WWII and how he set free Jew's

I'm from a family that is sound and loving

and that's where I'm from
